Your state senator, the Honorable Carlos Uresti, may be the deciding vote enabling the anti-transgender bill SB 723 to be considered on the floor of the Texas Senate.
SB 723 would remove current provisions which allow for an affidavit of a sex change to be used as an identity document to obtain a marriage license in Texas.
The only legislative intent of SB 723 is to discriminate against transgender Texans and remove the currently-available option.
SB 723 has been on the Senate's Intent Calendar for Monday and Tuesday, but has not moved due to lack of supportive votes.
Senator Uresti could have helped kill SB 723 in committee. However, he voted "present not voting".
WE MUST CONVINCE SENATOR URESTI TO OPPOSE SB 723 IN ORDER TO PREVENT THIS BILL FROM REACHING THE SENATE FLOOR!
Click the link and send an email to Senator Uresti urging him to oppose SB 723.
YOUR ACTION IS NEEDED BEFORE THE SENATE CONVENES AT 11AM ON WEDNESDAY MORNING.
