Pledge to Stand for Fairness for Transgender Marylanders

The Fairness for All Marylanders Act has passed through the General Assembly and has been signed by Governor O'Malley! Despite a strong show of support by both chambers and thousands of emails and calls from supporters like you, opponents are doing their best to continue spreading misinformation to confuse the public and even some of our friends.

The Fairness for All Marylanders Act helps address the real discrimination transgender people face. A 2011 study by the National Center for Transgender Equality and National Gay and Lesbian Task Force found that 18% of transgender people surveyed had lost a job, 42% had experienced an adverse job action at work, 17% had been denied a home or apartment, and 54% had reported being harassed in places of public accommodation like restaurants and movie theaters.

We made the difference in passing the Fairness for All Marylanders Act because people stood up to urge their legislators to support fairness. Now it's time to keep up the drumbeat and spread the message that Marylanders stand for fairness.

Stand with transgender Marylanders. Sign the Stand for Fairness pledge.
